President Bush and the current Farm Bill Veto
Tags:
Many of you either know or heard I was an “Outdoor Educator” in Ohio and attended “Ohio State” as well as “Westmoreland County Community County” Horticulture school of science.
Today President Bush vetoed a farm subsidies bill allowing wealthy "Idle Farmers" to continue receiving billions of dollars. This same veto will increase the cost of food stamp allotments for low income.
Now I want to bring this home to you, PA receives only 21% of the USDA allotments (one of the smallest in the country).
North Huntingdon Twp.’s “Municipal Sewage Authority” operates an expensive, up to date system, on Rt. 993. Part of that system moves sludge into lagoons. These Lagoons are an excellent source of fertilizer for farmers. HOWEVER, it must remain idle for at least 3 years before being spread. For organic farms the land must lay fallow for seven years.
Mrs. Kate Petrosky manager of the department, never recieved permission to give the treated sludge to farms, by the United States Department of Environmental Protection.
As I've written time and time again--this is not rocket science.
Compounding this with your OTHER JUNK SCIENCE, and you've got serious problems.
The township is ill equip to provide a sustainable farming culture. This is political, but not on a Mrs. Petrosky level at all. In fact the way the system is operating it discourages sustainability and supports junk science.
When you visit your local super market and find the cost of fruits, vegetables, spices, baked goods, and condiments unaffordable, ask your commissioners to explain why they are not supporting sustainable farming. Better yet ask Mrs. Petrosky why she was not approved.

Wasn't the increase to veterans benefits included in that bill? I'm not sure. I can't stand how they throw just all kinds of things into one bill and the important matters are left out because of other stuff.
Sick, Sick
Do any address the issues at hand? If not then write a new law.
They just write laws one after the other, and enforce only those after public ridicule.
They do this crap to pander and impress.
