High School Baseball at PNC Park. Norwin 1 PCC 0
Norwin took PCC to the Matts. Whiteman and Griffith that is. The two Norwin hurlers pitched brilliantly. Holding PCC scoreless through 6+ innings. Senior Adam Thomas came on to slam the door on PCC's last gasp. Griffith got the win both ways as he drove in Norwin's lone run. A deep sacrifice fly to left field by Griffith scored Brendan Kollar from third. Stellar defense by A J Bergman on a hard line drive to left in the sixth froze the PCC runner at third where he stayed stranded. Bobby Martin made a nice catch in left during PCC's last at bat that helped end the last Viking threat of defeating the Knights. Senior Tommy Shirley got the crowd on it's feet with a deep drive to right center that looked like it would make the seats as it left the bat, only to be run down by the PCC centerfielder. A Norwin rally in the sixh was short circuited when Griffith was called out on appeal for missing first on a double. The next two batters singled, but that was all the Knights could muster in their last at bat.
The game at PNC Park was made possible by the teams selling Pirate tickets. Both teams are planning on making this an annual tradition with America's Best Ballpark as the host.
