Fifth Ward Election Results
Tags:
I want people to know that the election results, while not official, were very misleading as published in the newspaper.
The votes for the candidates on the democratic ticket were basically correct, excluding the write-in votes. I don't have the actual totals for those, but Ray Kocak received more than 20 write-in votes on the democratic side.
In the republican primary, Mark Oesterlin received 113 votes in Fifth ward precinct 2 which were not reported to the media, bringing his total for non-write-in votes to 206. Ray Kocak also received some votes on the Republican side, but not quite as many as on the democratic side.
OK, I admit that as Mark Oesterlin, I'm biased about this story, but I'm a little annoyed that the voters of Fifth ward don't get to see their vote totals correctly. By the time the official totals come out, it will be weeks later, and there will be hardly any publicity.
The Republicans in Fifth ward do count, and I want to thank you all for voting.
