Billie Jo Powers of North Huntingdon recently competed in the Miss Hawaiian Tropic Pageant at the famous "Hawaiian Tropic Zone Restaurant & Lounge in Times Square, New York City. The competition was open to models from around the world; 27 participants were judged on stage presence, interview/question and answer, bikini and club wear. Celebrity judges included Furio Guinta from the Sopranos, representatives from Maxim Magazine as well as several NYC Firefighters. Powers was selected as First Runner up with a cash prize of $1,000.00 and an opportunity to work with the Hawaiian Tropic Zone in NYC. Billie Jo is a 2005 graduate of Norwin, is employed with Altier Chiropractic, attends WCCC and continues to pursue modeling and personal training as her future goals.
