First off, why are children in need being institutionalized?
Secondly who is funding this, parents, corporations, churches, golf outings, volunteers, and bingos, what? Who sets your work rules and guidelines?
Or, is this another Pennsylvania way of exploiting children and adults with disabilities for profit? I sure wouldn't get involved, nor would I donate.
Where I worked we were told using the word "INSTITUTION" is inappropriate and unlawful. We used appropriate words, like school, workshop, recreation and so on. That could be a State Law and not an ADA law.
All these things are the reasons why I cannot handle the attitudes of the non-disabled toward people who are MRDD.
Hope you don't end up with a serious fine on your hands, just my opinion.
Please look up the word institute! I did, and it does not mention in my dictionary the word institutional or institutionalize in the wording. It is the building in which the organization is "housed", for one. It is called "The Children's Institute". Also says, "an organization for the promotion of a cause, or, an act of originating, setting up, or founding." Look it up. There's lots more. I'd say this is a good thing coming to your area.
For all I know its Mengele, Hitler's henchman. How do they get to the institution, on a school bus? Put a child on a school bus to go to an institution, bet that makes them feel good.
