Mary Brant Ross, 84, of North Huntingdon died Feb. 12, 2008, in Redstone Highlands, Greensburg.
Born Aug. 8, 1923, in Ligonier, she was a daughter of Eugene and Margaret Belle Penney Brant. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Irwin and North Huntingdon AARP.
Surviving are her husband, Frederick Ross; children, David Ross and his wife, Meg Burkardt, of Pittsburgh and Kerry Ross and his wife, Janet, of Tucson, Ariz.; and grandchildren, Pamela Ross Burkardt, Kaitlyn Ross, Kevin Ross Burkardt, Margaret Ross, Sean Ross and Natalie Burkardt Ross.
A memorial service was held in First Presbyterian Church in Irwin with Ronald Wakeman officiating. Private interment was at Ligonier Valley Cemetery. William Snyder Funeral Home, Irwin, was in charge of arrangements.
George Rice Jr.
Retired electrician
George E. Rice Jr., 85, of North Huntingdon died March 13, 2008, in Baldock Health Care Centre, North Huntingdon.
Born Oct. 1, 1922, in Connellsville, he was a son of George Sr. and Loretta Pearl Hatfield Rice. He was a retired electrician. Mr. Rice served as a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Velma Lee Rice; sons, Kenneth and Kevin Rice; grandson, Jeremiah Spano; and brothers, Charles and Frank Rice.
Surviving are children, Sandra (Daniel) Mowery of North Huntingdon, Rhonda (Larry) Spano of Confluence, Phyllis (James) Snyder of Belle Vernon, Terry LaRose Lewis of Seminole, Fla., and Cathy (Rex) Bronzie of Greensburg; 15 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and siblings, Miriam Hayden and Jay Rice.
Friends were received at William Snyder Funeral Home, Irwin. Interment with military honors was at Mars Hill Cemetery, Sewickley Township.
Clarence Herzog

Clarence A. Herzog, 86, of Irwin died March 14, 2008, in Forbes Hospice, Pittsburgh.
Born Sept. 17, 1921, he was a son of Joseph and Clara Hamm Herzog.
He had been employed as a security guard in the Pittsburgh area. Mr. Herzog was a member of Church of the Immaculate Conception in Irwin.
Surviving is his wife, Maria Rindfleisch Herzog.

Mary Ann Bedont
Confectionary co-owner
Mary Ann Raspotnik Bedont, 96, of Westmoreland City died March 13, 2008, in St. Anne Home, Greensburg.
Born Feb. 12, 1912, in Westmoreland City, she was a daughter of Frank and Theresa Shust Raspotnik.
She was co-owner for more than 40 years of the former Bedont's Confectionary in Westmoreland City. She was a member of Church of the Immaculate Conception in Irwin, St. Joseph Polish Society of Westmoreland City, Golden Echoes and Christian Mothers.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Bedont Sr.; a daughter, Patricia Dubich; and brothers, William, John, Victor and Rudy Raspotnik. Surviving are her two sons, James Bedont and his wife, June, of McHenry, Md., and Francis Bedont and his wife, Ann, of Falls Church, Va.; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Friends were received at Joseph F. Ott Funeral Home Inc., Irwin. Mass of Christian Burial was in Church of the Immaculate Conception. Interment was at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, North Huntingdon.

Scott Andrew Raling, 40, of North Huntingdon died March 9, 2008, in Ridgeway Township, Elk County.
Born Jan. 15, 1968, in Jeannette, he was a son of Richard Lee and Bernadette Fleming Raling.
He was a member of the Italian Miners Society of Hahntown.
Surviving are his two daughters, Paige Spencer and Alyssa Raling, both of Greene County; brothers and sisters, Richard Raling of Costa Masai, Calif., Denise Powers of Manor, David Raling of Manor and Megan Fleming of North Huntingdon; and a cousin Donnie Fleming of North Huntingdon with whom he resided.

Christine Gmutza

Christine Gmutza, 92, of North Huntingdon died March 12, 2008.
Born Oct. 20, 1915, in Barnes Borough, she was the daughter of Joseph and Chris-tina Semanchik Feltovich.
Mrs. Gmutza was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, North Huntingdon.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Albert Gmutza; eight siblings; and her parents.
Surviving are her children, Albert Jr. of Mt. Vernon, Ind., Audrey (Richard) Kuhn of North Huntingdon and Alberta (Thomas) McDonald of Charlotte, N.C.; seven grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Mary Evelyn Labor, 83, of Westmoreland City, died March 13, 2008.
Born Aug 13, 1924, in Blythe, Northumberland, England, she was a daughter of Joseph and Sarah Ellen Riddell Cuthberson. She was a Royal Air Force veteran of World War II.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Jan Smetana.
Surviving are her children, John Labor and wife, Jodie, of Rustburg, Va., and Maureen Smetana of Pittsburgh; grandchildren, Michelle Renee Labor and Kevin John Labor; and a great-granddaughter.

Hulda Mae McNeilly Webberking, 86, of Irwin died March 15, 2008, in Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg.
Born Feb. 9, 1922, in Rillton, she was a daughter of Robert and Lydia Wolf McNeilly.
Before her retirement, she was employed as a secretary for Hartford Steam Boiler, Pittsburgh. Mrs. Webberking was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Irwin.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Webberking; and a sister, Mary Egan.
Surviving are a sister, Ellen McNeilly of Irwin; a nephew, Robert C. Egan of North Huntingdon, a grandniece, Heatherlyn Egan; and a grandnephew, Jason Egan.
Friends will be received noon to 1 p.m. today, Wednesday, at Joseph F. Ott Funeral Home Inc., Irwin, at which time a service will be held in the funeral home chapel with the Dr. Rev. Clifton Suehr officiating. Interment will follow at Irwin Union Cemetery, North Huntingdon.
William Bussard Sr.
World War II veteran
William H. Bussard Sr., 86, of Paintertown died March 15, 2008.
Born Feb. 17, 1922, in Arona, he was a son of the late John and Mary Miller Bussard.
Before his retirement, he was employed as a machinist for Westinghouse Air Brake Co. in Wilmerding. He was a veteran of World War II who served with the U.S. Army.
Mr. Bussard was a former member of the FOE Aerie 1671 in Irwin, Paintertown VFD and Paintertown Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Surviving are seven children, Ronald Harrison Breegle of Penn Township, Bonnie Lou Breegle Chambers of Hammond, La., James Reuben Bussard of San Mateo Calif., Harry Bussard of North Huntingdon, Tracy Lynn Bussard Painter Berthold of Monroeville, Romayne Mary Bussard Bodnar of Irwin and Jeffrey Floyd Bussard of Hartford, Wisc.; 23 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Wilbur Bussard.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Leona Gilkey Breegle Bussard; a son, William Henry Bussard Jr.; four brothers, Leroy, John, Raymond and Tom Bussard; and four sisters, Glydas Haoranek, Mildred Kovatch, Melrose Hanford and Bertha Kirpatrick.

Jean Myers Todd, 86, of North Huntingdon, formerly of Pitcairn, died March 15, 2008.
Ms. Todd was a member of Telephone Pioneers of America and OES Corinth Chapter 229.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Todd; parents, Harry and Lida Dais Myers; and a brother, Harry Myers.
Surviving are her daughter, Susan Todd, of North Huntingdon; and granddogs, Jadzia and Kira.
A service was held at Wm. O. Pearce Funeral Home Inc., Pitcairn, with the Rev. Patricia Cleary officiating. Interment was at Penn Lincoln Memorial Park, North Huntingdon.
Virginia Lavigna Saddle

Virginia Lavigna Saddler, 87, of Westmoreland City died March 16, 2008, in Mercy Jeannette Hospital.
Born Aug. 1, 1920, in Jeannette, she was a daughter of Americus and Catherine Lavigna. She was a member of Church of the Immaculate Conception in Irwin. Mrs. Saddler was a former member of Westmoreland City VFD Ladies Auxiliary.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Saddler; five brothers; and four sisters.
Surviving are five children; Catherine Sarge and her husband, Carl, of Westmoreland City, William Saddler and his wife, Deborah, of Simpsonville, S.C., Linda Uliano and her husband, Lou, of Westmoreland City, Janet Uliano and her husband, Frank, of Luxor, and Mary Jo George and her husband, Steve, of San Antonio, Texas; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today, Wednesday, at Joseph F. Ott Funeral Home Inc., Irwin. Parting prayers will be held 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home followed by a 2 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial in Church of the Immaculate Conception. Ann Mallick
Army veteran
Ann C. Burgoon Mallick, 76, formerly of Adamsburg, died March 17, 2008, at Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital.
Born July 10, 1931, in Cresson, she was a daughter of Madeline Burgoon Stanley.
She was a veteran of the U.S. Army who served during the Korean War. She once was a member of ladies auxiliaries of both the Adamsburg Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue 14 Ambulance of Adamsburg.
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Mallick.
Surviving are four children, Jay Mallick and his wife, Darlene, of Manor, James Mallick and his wife, Autum, of Milton Fla., Judy Rhome of Lena, Wis., and John Mallick and his wife, Rhonda of Jeannette; grandchildren, Jason, Jennifer, Christopher and A.J.; stepgrandchildren, David and Jaime; and three great-stepgrandchildren.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today, Wednesday, at Joseph F. Ott Funeral Home Inc. Irwin. A service will be held 10 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home chapel.
Interment will follow at Brush Creek Cemetery, Hempfield Township.
Arthur Dilts

Arthur H. Dilts, 67, of North Huntingdon, formerly of southern Ontario and Buffalo, N.Y., died March 13, 2008, in UPMC Shadyside.
Born April 2, 1940, in Canada, he was a retired pipe fitter at General Motors. He was a member of West Newton Sportsmen's Club, West Newton German Club, West Newton VFW, WMBU of Blythdale, AARP 3221, AARP bowling and American Legion of Irwin.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Sharon Dilts; a brother and a sister.
Surviving are his wife, Joan Tati Dilts; sons, Charles of South Borough, Mass., Christopher and his wife, Christine, of Oak Creek, Wis., and Gregory Dilts of Pitttsburgh; stepchildren, Linda Paranick, Sharon Melani, Kenneth Phillips and Carole Sever; and 19 grandchildren.

Mary Evelyn Simpson, 96, of North Huntingdon died March 12, 2008, at Westmoreland Manor, Greensburg.
Born July 31, 1911, in McKeesport, she was the daughter of William John and Mary Belle Norris Montgomery.
She was a member of Circleville United Methodist Church where she formerly taught Sunday school She was preceded in death by her husband, Oliver David Simpson; and a daughter, Lois Norton.
Surviving are her grandson, David Simpson and his wife, Janet, of North Huntingdon; granddaughter, Susan McCoy and her husband, Harrison, of Urban, Md.; and four great-grandchildren.

Richard Stiller
Marine Corps veteran
Richard J. Stiller, 58, of North Huntingdon died March 12, 2008, at his home.
Born Jan. 20, 1950, in Oil City, he was a son of Elias Joseph and Marie Elizabeth Ganoe Stiller.
He was at one time employed as a computer technician for Intergraph Corp. of Pittsburgh. Mr. Stiller was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a member of the Italian Miners Society in Hahntown.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Dominic Ekberg; a sister, Helen Hewston; and three brothers, William, Edward and Robert Stiller.
Surviving are his wife of 37 years, Janice Sawyer Stiller; two daughters, Stephanie (Aaron Kukic) Stiller of West Newton and Danielle (David Ekberg) Stiller of Cheektowaga, N.Y.; three grandchildren, Emma Kukic and Donovon and Dalene Ekberg; and four sisters, Patricia Luther, Theresa DeChant, Christine Curran and Mary Jane Greene.

John L. Hall

John L. Hall, 74, died March 14, 2008.
Born June 28, 1933, in Scottdale, he was the son of Alfred and Marie Hall.
He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a degree in mechanical and structural engineering and received a master's degree in business systems management from Carnegie Mellon University.
Mr. Hall was a professional licensed engineer at JA Design, Delmont.
He was a Korean War Army veteran.
Surviving are his wife, Edith Hall; children, John (Patty) Hall, Janice (Todd) Jaussen, Annamarie (Arthur) Campedel and George (Nancy) Hall; 17 grandchildren; brothers, Fred and Robert Hall; sisters, Jeanne Berndt, Elizabeth Hall and Rosemary Whiting; and his former wife, Norma Prokop, mother of his children.
In addition to his parents, a brother, George Leo, preceded him in death.

Samuel LoPinto Ray, 78, of North Huntingdon, died March 16, 2008.
Born May 2, 1929, in Pittsburgh, he was a son of August and Josephine LoPinto Ray.
Surviving are his wife, Bertha Woodside Ray; children, Richard Michael Ray of North Huntingdon, Gary (Kathy) Ray of Sarver and Nancy Ann (Ron) Jandrokovic of Ravenna, Ohio; granddaughters, Stephanie and Rebecca Ray; brother, Michael Ray; and nephews, Kenneth and Glen Ray.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Anthony and Mary Lou Ray; and a sister-in-law, Ruthie Ray.
There was no viewing. Private interment with military honors was at Union Cemetery, North Huntingdon.
