Ellen Morcheid Vargo, 78, a resident of Redstone Highlands in North Huntingdon, died March 29, 2008.
Born Nov. 1, 1929, in Larimer, she was a daughter of Louis and Julia Martin Morcheid.
She, along with her family, owned and operated Vargo's Hallmark card stores at Norwin Hills Shopping Center and Norwin Towne Square, both in North Huntingdon. Mrs. Vargo was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, North Huntingdon.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Charles Vargo; brothers, Louis and James Morcheid; and a sister, Cecelia Loughner.
Surviving are six children; Barbara (Ken) Bence of Aliquippa, Charles (Margie) Vargo of St. Louis, Mo., Debbie Tumino of Jeannette, Peggy (Dan) Nowalk of St. Joseph, Mo., Janet Vargo of Bridgewater, N.J., and Kitty (Keith) Mahosky of Jeannette, 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Madeline Morcheid, Regina Ahlborn and Irene Skiffington.

Arlene A. Adzija Porter, 50, of Irwin, died March 29, 2008, in Greensburg.
Born Nov. 1, 1957, in McKeesport, she was a daughter of Margaret "Marge" Telesko Adzija of North Huntingdon and the late Milos Adzija.
She was employed as a claims representative for the Social Security Administration in Monroeville. Mrs. Porter was a member of Church of the Immaculate Conception in Irwin, YWCA of Greensburg, Palace Theatre Volunteers, M/S Bocce League of Jeannette and Lady Hackers Golf League at Cloverleaf Golf Club in Delmont.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband of 27 years, William "Jack" Porter III; a daughter, Natalie Porter of Irwin; a sister, Patricia Palaschak; and a brother, Michael Adzija.

Robert J. Kremer, 71, of North Huntingdon, died April 6, 2008, in Mercy Jeannette Hospital.
Born April 29, 1936, in Pittsburgh, he was a son of Joseph and Frances Jastrzebski Kremer.
Before his retirement, he was employed as a truck driver for Bell View Lee Thompson Fawcett Co. in Penn. He was a member of St. Agnes Church, North Huntingdon. Mr. Kremer was a member of the American Seniors Club in Wilmerding and Italian Miners Society in Hahntown.
Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Lillian Shields Kremer; four children, Jane (Donald) Ludwig of North Huntingdon, Annette (Dave) Bohinski of North Huntingdon, Cheryl Kremer of Mechanicsburg and Robert Kremer of Pittsburgh; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and brothers, Raymond, Joseph and Vincent Kremer.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Carol Negy.

Irene S. Hanna, 84, of Allentown, died April 3, 2008, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.
She was a resident of Cedarbrook Nursing Home in Allentown. Born Aug. 28, 1923, in Lansford, Pa., she was the daughter of John and Elizabeth Hatrak Sniscak. Mrs. Hanna was a graduate of Allentown Business School and was a seamstress prior to retirement.
Surviving are her son, George Hanna and his wife, Janet, of Irwin; grandchildren, Susan Schehr and Jill Warman, both of Irwin; four great-granddaughters; and a brother, John Sniscak.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Arthur Hanna; and a brother, George Sniscak.

Harvey P. Dice, 78, of North Huntingdon, died April 4, 2008.
Born June 7, 1929, in Reading, he was the son of Harvey E. and Edna Adams Dice.
He was a retired master mechanic for Pittsburgh Crane & Hoist, McKees Rocks. Mr. Dice was an Air Force Reserve veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Irwin, Shidle Lodge No. 601, Free and Accepted Masons, Irwin; a life member of VFW Post 781, American Legion and Italian Miners Society; and a social member of the North Irwin Fire Department.
Surviving are his wife of 56 years, W. Elizabeth "Betty" Ebersole Dice; children, Susan (William) Opaska of Green Tree, Cynthia (Alan) Painter of Irwin, Kathleen (Gary) Wagner of Johnstown and Robert (Molly) Dice of Fulton, Md.; 13 grandchildren; sister, Elizabeth Boyer; and a brother, James Dice.
Friends were received at William Snyder Funeral Home, Irwin. A service was in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Thomas St. Clair officiating. Interment was at Westmoreland County Memorial Park, Greensburg.

Robert Louis Elliott, 87, of North Huntingdon, died April 3, 2008.
Born March 12, 1921, in Paintertown, he was a son of Robert Lee and Hettie Wigle Elliott.
He was a retired employee of Conrail. Mr. Elliot was a World War II Army veteran. He was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Irwin.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Emma Louise Kramer Elliott; and siblings, Grace Brown and William Elliott.
Surviving are his daughter, Mary Louise Guiliano and her husband, Frank, of North Huntingdon; granddaughters, Wendy Lauer of Jenkintown and Lindsay Guiliano of Norristown; a great-granddaughter, Ashleigh Lauer; and a brother, Warren Elliott.

Dolores M. "Dolly" Stauffer Hensberger, 79, of Larimer, died April 2, 2008.
Born Sept. 10, 1928, in Jeannette, she was a daughter of Albert L. "Lucky" and Theresa Donaldson Stauffer.
Before retirement, she was a manager at Frank and John's Cleaners in Norwin Towne Square. She was a member of the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Irwin.
Mrs. Hensberger was at one time a member and secretary of the Norwin Towne Square Business Association and bowled in leagues at Norwin Lanes. She was a member of AARP.
Surviving are her husband of 61 years, George Stephen Hensberger; four daughters, Linda (Charles) Orbon of Penn Township, Patricia Gongaware of Irwin, Sharon (Eric) Hoffer of Adamsburg and Debra (David Davis) Hensberger of Greensburg; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; 10 stepgrandchildren; and a sister, Judy Ann Biesuz.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Thomas, James and William Stauffer.

Robert Stecik

Robert E. Stecik, 79, of North Huntingdon, died April 4, 2008, in Mercy Jeannette Hospital.
Born July 16, 1928, in Braddock, he was a son of John and Gertrude McClesky Stecik.
Before his retirement, he was employed as a senior metallurgical technician for the U.S. Steel Research Center in Monroeville.
He was a member of Church of the Immaculate Conception in Irwin and a lifetime member of the Holy Name Society and Knights of Columbus St. Jude Council 9019. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in World War II and the Korean War. Mr. Stecik was a former sports coach for the league at Immaculate Conception.
Surviving are his wife of almost 54 years, M. Louise Almanza Stecik; three children, Joseph Stecik and his wife, Bonnie, of North Huntingdon, Robert Stecik Jr. and his wife, Diane, of Monongahela, and Marie Selia and her husband, Jay, of Harrison City; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Matilda Noschese, Dolores Kostyak and Trudy Ragan.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, John Stecik Jr.

Joseph J. Lagalski, 40, of Westmoreland City, died April 4, 2008.
Born Jan. 26, 1968, in Pittsburgh, he was a son of Joseph and Mary Ann Bernat Lagalski of Westmoreland City.
He was employed as a construction worker for Trafford Corp. in Trafford.
Mr. Lagalski was formerly employed as a police officer for the city of Pittsburgh. A graduate of Norwin High School, he was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and a member of Church of the Immaculate Conception in Irwin and St. Joseph Polish Club in Westmoreland City.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by two daughters, Samantha and Ashton Lagalski, both of North Huntingdon; and a friend, Tammy Hoyman of North Huntingdon.

Angeline J. Lapia Thompson, 84, of North Huntingdon, died April 6, 2008.
Born May 26, 1923, in Pittsburgh, she was a daughter of Nicholas and Antoinette Grippo Lapia.
Mrs. Thompson was a member of St. Agnes Church, North Huntingdon.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Adolph Thompson II; and brothers and sisters, Consetta Golden, Pasquale Lapia, Louise Lapia and Mary Delgatti.
She is survived by her children, Adolph Thompson III and his wife, Catherine, of North Huntingdon, Nicholas Thompson and his wife, Patricia, of North Huntingdon and Debra Masciantonio and her husband, Gary, of Westmoreland City; a brother, Anthony Lapia; six grandchildren, Lyndi Harbulak, Adolph Thompson IV, Chad Thompson, Tracy Dean, Robert Kustra Jr. and Joshua Kustra; and seven great-grandchildren.

Mary E. Madden Moffatt, 82, of Irwin, died April 5, 2008.
Born April 18, 1925, in McKeesport, she was a daughter of Paul and Margaret Dittman Madden.
She was a member of Church of the Immaculate Conception in Irwin and its Christian Mothers and the Golden Echoes. Mrs. Madden volunteered at the former Monsour Hospital and was a former Ideal Girl at McKeesport High School. She was an avid tennis player.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John H. Moffatt.
Surviving are five children; James (Marilyn) Moffatt of Manor, John (Elza) Moffatt of Laredo, Texas, Marianne (George) Weaver of North Huntingdon, Michael (Billye) Moffatt of Albuquerque, N.M., and Kimberly Moffatt and her fiance, Patsy Mignogna of Greensburg; 11 grandchildren; and a brother, Francis Madden.

Born May 22, 1919, in Slickville, she was a daughter of Louis Jr. and Daisy Davis Kotouch.
Surviving are her husband, Frank Kasunic; children Frank (Lois) Kasunic Jr. of Las Vegas, James (Lorraine) Kasunic of Walkersville, Md., and Kathleen (Terry) Thompson of Clarksville, Md.; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a brother, Elmer Kotouch.

Vilma Nagy Pernick, 83, of North Braddock, died April 4, 2008.
She had been a packaging supervisor for the National Biscuit Co. Mrs. Pernick was a member of Good Shepherd Senior Citizens Club.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Earl Pernick; and parents, Peter and Mary Kukla Nagy.
She is survived by her children, Christine (Kenneth) Stubock of Penn Township, Earl (Therese) Pernick of Stahlstown and Kathleen (Richard) Sidor of North Huntingdon; siblings, Mildred Piotrowski, John, Stephen, Andrew and Joseph Nagy; and four grandchildren.
