The horse was born with a crippled leg, has an awkward gait. Again proving a disability is not always a handicap, a challenge, or unable for one to compete.
In Contrast to this, a blind horse in Mercer County was dragged by a truck until he died. The horse suffered, had many broken bones, finally, at the mercy of God, the horse died.
Lost to Mercer county riders, was a horse with a gentle spirit, loving and who took the most feeble among us for rides.
For people with physical and mental disabilities, the muscle movement in a horse helps them connect to their inability or ability in moving parts of their own bodies. Weekly visits to the horse farm are cherished and considered a place to be free, in movement, in spirit, and a place to connect with the wind, earth, flowers, trees, and weather.
The power of success, competing, winning or losing is felt by those who cannot participate in the weekly rigors of training for the "Special Olympics". No pun intended for physical directors at the local ARC's.
