PAL seasons heating up

Pinto baseball

• The Level Green Plumbing and Heating Indians earned a hard-fought victory over the nelson Tire and Service White Sox in PAL Pinto Action on April 26. The White Sox turned in excellent defense with Ethan nelson teaming up with Cameron O'Brien for a double play in the third inning to keep the score close.

Game MVP Dekota Gerstner provided opening-day fireworks at the plate for the White Sox, going 4 for 4 with two doubles and three runs scored, while Donovan Francis came up with a timely double to key a late rally. In the end, the Indians won on solid defense and big hits from Gianni Rizzo and Josh Ratesic.

• On April 27, Winchester Room Royals beat Computer Medix Orioles, 12-11. For the Orioles, Josh McKinley, Carson Shipley and Dalton Rendulic each had two hits and scored two runs. For the Royals, Cameron Schweitzer had three hits and scored three runs while Brock Dieter, Christopher Wallace, Jason Bevington, Jake Fierle and A.J. Detore all had two hits apiece.

• Advanticom Inc. Yankees edged District Judge Douglas Weimer Jr. Rangers, 15-13, on April 27.

Heavy hitters for the Rangers were nick Zona and Tanner Mahofski with solid fielding by Logan Liebizinski. Strong play in the field came from Jason Miller, and late in the sixth inning, a hit by Gage Luptak pulled the Yankees to the win.

• On April 30, Larimer VFD bettered Advanticom, 8-6. Larimer VFD held on to take the win with the steady hitting of Joe Astrab and Josh Clingensmith, with three singles each, and Joe Harris, with two singles and some strong defense. Advanticom had some big hitters as Gage Luptak had three singles and a triple, Jason Miller with four singles and Tyler Barry with three singles.

• On May 2, Winchester Room Royals edged Level Green Plumbing and Heating, 13-12. In an exciting game that featured a triple play and several double plays, the Winchester Room Royals scored two runs in the sixth inning to win a close one.

The stars for the Level Green Plumbing and Heating were Josh Ratesic and Alex Fleet, who had three hits. The Winchester Room Royals were led by Jake Vinsick and Kenny Divens, with three hits each.

• In another tight contest on May 3, Quest Diagnostics Athletics beat Pizza and Gyro Express Mariners, 15-14.

Leading the way for the A's was Matt Schaich with a home run and three runs scored, nick Lagnese with two home runs and Josh Vaughn with three runs scored.

Leading the way for the Mariners was Jonathan Scavnicky with two hits and three runs scored, nick Vieceli with four hits and four runs scored, and Owen Sabol with three runs scored.

• On May 4, Flynn's Tire and Auto Blue Jays defeated District Judge Douglas Weimer Jr. Rangers, 8-5.

Great defense was turned in by both teams, but the Blue Jays were able to slip by the Rangers with a late-inning rally. The Rangers were led by nick Zona and Zane Kaigler, both 3 for 4. Zona also made a number of great plays in the field.

The Blue Jays were led by nate Pawluk, who was 3 for 3 with two doubles and 2 RBI, and Brady Sigut, who was 3 for 3 with a double. The Blue Jays' Josh nelson took game ball honors for a great defensive effort.

• Quest Diagnostics Athletics bettered Wayne Homes Red Sox, 15-10, on May 4.

In their last tuneup before the regular season starts, the A's and Red Sox played an outstanding game that had solid hits, outstanding catches, double plays and five lead changes. For the winning A's, Josh Hough went 4 for 4, nick Lagnese 3 for 4 with three runs scored and Michael Fry had three runs scored.

For the Red Sox, Evan Kochasic went 5 for 5, and both Raun Churchfield and Hailee Culbertson went 3 for 4.

Mustang baseball

• north Huntingdon Township Police defeated norwin Agency, 8-1, in Mustang baseball action on April 26.

Gage McCracken and Dante Rizzo lead the nHTPD to victory with two singles, a double and two runs scored each.

Steven Petrick had a single and a double, and Jeremy Stepanik had a couple of singles for norwin Agency.

• Norwin Agency rebounded to defeat The Hi Tech Guru, 5-3, on April 27.

The Hi Tech Gurus were lead by Tyler Chritchfield, with two singles and a run scored, and Jack Hersick with a single.

Norwin Agency was led to victory by Christian Lindberg with two singles, a run scored and pitching a couple of shutout innings. Steven Petrick added a couple more shutout innings, two singles, a double and a run scored.

• On May 3, Dellefemine Landscaping edged III Gdovic's Landscaping, 3-2.

Strong pitching performances by both teams kept the scoring low. Tyler White's double in the bottom of the sixth placed the tying run on base and scored two, but Jarrod Harkins held on to secure the win.

• North Huntingdon Township Police Department Cubs defeated III Gdovic's Landscaping Diamondbacks, 6-1, on May 3.

Nick Clifford went 1 for 1 and pitched a scoreless inning, and Nathan Burkhart went 1 for 3. The Cubs pitchers struck out 12 in the game. Josh Jenkins went 1 for 3, and Tyler White pitched well, facing only three batters and striking out two for the D-Backs.

• NHTPD also earned an 8-5 win on May 4 over the Norwin Agency Mets.

Nick Clifford went 2 for 2 with a single and a double. Dominic Foster added a triple, and Gage McCracken hit a double for the cops. Remington Lojas hit a triple, and Steven Petrick went 2 for 2 with a triple and a single in the loss for the Mets.

Pony baseball

• Drew Menas Restaurant and Lounge exploded for a 26-3 win over Dr. Carla Capozzi Orthodontics on a rain-soaked field May 3.

Starting pitcher Nick Idelle deserved a better fate as all 12 Drew Menas players hit safely. Vince Palmieri bombed a double off the fence in left center for the losing team. However, solid pitching by Luke Haines and Luke Sige was too much for the stymied bats of Dr. Carla Capozzi's team.

• Franklin defeated Drew Menas Restaurant and Lounge, 10-2, on May 4.

Powderpuff softball

• Irwin Photo Lab narrowly edged Italian Miner Society, 10-9, on April 29 in Powderpuff softball action.

The bats were cracking for both teams on the chilly spring evening. The Muckhounds did a great job fielding, but the Sidewinders pulled it out in the last inning by one run.

The MVPs were Cara "Tink" Weaver for the Irwin Photo Lab Sidewinders and Anna Murphy for the Italian Miner Society Muckhounds.

• C. Harper Auto Group Bees edged Belak Flowers Thunder, 10-9, on May 1.

Both teams were on the ball as the fielding was great, and all of the girls were hitting well. C. Harper Auto Group pulled it out by one with the help of Haley Daugherty, who received the game ball. Belak Flowers' Samantha Clifford had the final run of the game.

• Belak Flowers edged Irwin Photo Lab, 15-14, on May 4.

Both teams played extremely well with some great hits and great defensive plays. Irwin Photo Lab's MVP was Caroline Tachoir for her times at bat. And the MVP for Belak Flowers was Mikhayla Peschock for making two outs while playing third base.

Intermediate softball

• On April 29, Michelle's Hair Boutique and Huntington Gallery had a 12-12 tie.

The two star players from Michelle's Hair Boutique were Ashley Divens and Sara Kunkle. The two standouts from Huntington Gallery were Mattie Fanty and Gionna Alissandro.

• On May 3, Michelle's Hair Salon again played to a tie, this time with C. Harper Auto Group, 13-13. The player of the game for C. Harper was Sara Salley. The players of the game for Michelle's were Nicole Fell and Katelyn Powanda.

Junior softball

• DiCerbo Properties defeated Cal's Cantina Bar and Grill, 21-16, on April 26 in junior softball play.

Kelsey Butler, Lindsey Muschar, Ashley Malerbo and Shannon Nestor led Cal's in hitting, while Haley Pontia did the pitching. Lena, Kelsey, Erin and Brianna were the top hitters for DiCerbo.

• S&A Homes beat Toona Auto Paint, 13-7, on April 30. In the win, Taylor Trump hit three singles, and Becca Giles was the winning pitcher. In defeat, Kelly Wasko had solid fielding. Emily Anderson had three hits.

• Shear Perfection Riverdogs beat Baierl Acura Bees, 11-5, on May 3. The Riverdogs were led by strong pitching from Rachel Sinagra and hitting from Santina Walk and Haley Reichert. The Bees were led by Ashley Rae, Kira Baierl and Abby Ervin.

• S&A Homes bettered DiCerbo Properties, 9-6, on May 4. Highlights for DiCerbo Property included a triple and two singles for Lexie Vargo, and Brianna Hardy had excellent pitching.

For S&A Homes, Allyssa Beavers had three singles, and Rebecca Geizura had two singles.

n On April 26, State’s Tire beat Victoria Bauer Accessories, 22-10, in senior softball action. Brittnee Schwartz had a home run, and Rachael Niderstros smacked two home runs for State’s Tire. Hope Yuhas had a home run and Natalie Parry had a double for Victoria Bauer Accessories.

• Nancy’s Family Hair Design bettered State’s Tire, 12-4, on April 29.

To help out the winning team, Nikki Cardiff went 3 for 3, which included a double, and Kaylan Reno also went 3 for 3. For State’s Tire, Taylor Niderstros hit a triple, and Rhiannon Vieceli helped out with a double.

• State’s Tire beat Hohman Plumbing and Heating, 13-10, on May 3.

The score was close all seven innings. There were several lead changes, but in the end, State’s Tire pulled out a well-deserved victory. Shawna Steffy and Rachel Niderstros each had three hits and scored three runs for State’s Tire.

Carrie Smith, Brittany Turley and Melani Hohman each had two hits and scored
at least two runs for Hohman Plumbing and Heating.

• Nancy’s Family Hair Designs won a slugfest, 19-12, over Victoria Bauer Accessories on May 3. In defeat, Maggie Yuhas had a double and two RBI’s. Brittany Algeria had three singles.

In the win, Kara Halin had a home run plus four singles. Allison Raling had a homer and two singles.
