Anthony Taglieri from Forbes Road Career and Technology Center in Monroeville will represent Pennsylvania in the National Skills-USA Competition this June in Kansas City, Mo., after winning the SkillsUSA State Competition this month in Hershey.

Anthony, a Woodland Hills High School student who attends Forbes, won first place in the culinary arts competition.

Second-place state winners were T.J. Hartin, Woodland Hills, firefighting; Brandon Sherry, Gateway, Internet-working; Charla Hubbard, East Allegheny, medical assisting; and Katie Burton, Plum, dental assisting.

Third-place winners were Mike Smith, Woodland Hills, diesel; Joel Carter, Highlands, Job Skill B; and Beth Lindner, Wilkinsburg, sheet metal.

SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers and industry working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce.

Several students were chosen to represent Forbes Road in the state competition following the District 8 competition held earlier this year.
