Betty Peters
Cafeteria worker at Norwin East and Scull

Betty E. Weaver Peters, 90, ofIrwin, died April 15, 2008, in Juniper Village, North Huntingdon.

Born July 27, 1917, in Hahntown, she was a daughter of Charles and Ida Hahn Weaver.

Before her retirement, she was employed by Norwin School District in the cafeteria at both Norwin East and Scull schools. Mrs. Peters was a member of Eagles Aries Ladies Auxiliary 1671 in Irwin.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Louis V. Peters; a brother, Charles Weaver; and a sister, Florence Resetar.

Surviving are four children, Ronald (Andrea) Peters of Oxford, Pa., Gerald (Alicia) Peters of Louisville, Ohio; Betty Lou (Larry) Sullivan of North Huntingdon and Dawn (Marty) Kuhn of Irwin; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Friends were received at Joseph F. Ott Funeral Home Inc., Irwin. Interment was at Restland Memorial Park, Monroeville.

Kathy Humberston
St. Agnes member

Kathy Ritmanich Humberston, 69, ofNorth Huntingdon, died April 16, 2008, in Canonsburg Hospital.

Born Aug. 2, 1938, in Rankin, she was a daughter of Matthew and Ann Seaman Ritmanich.

Mrs. Humberston was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, North Huntingdon.

Surviving are her husband, Eugene M. Humberston; children, Eugene J. Humberston of Swissvale and Janice Zona and her husband, Ronald, of North Huntingdon; a sister, Dorothy (Paul) McPheron; nephews, Mark and Rick McPheron; friend, Kelly Gray; and her four dogs, Mindy, Bailey, Sadie and Tina.

Friends were received at Joseph F. Ott Funeral Home Inc., Irwin. Mass of Christian Burial was in St. Agnes Church. Interment was at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, North Huntingdon.

Pamela Jubec
Mother

Pamela A. Masser Jubec, 38, of Jeannette, died April 15, 2008.

Born Sept. 8, 1969, in Greensburg, she was a daughter of Christopher Masser of New Stanton and Sandra Galensky Masser of Rillton.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by one daughter, Breanna Jubec, at home: one stepson, Michael Jubec; three half-sisters, Allison Davies, Kristin Masser and Erika Bales; and her stepmother, Annaliese Masser of New Stanton.

Bernice Riley
Retired social worker

Bernice M. Riley, 89, of North Huntingdon, died April 15, 2008.

Born June 15, 1918, in Pittsburgh, she was a daughter of Charles and Clara Dow Riley.

A graduate of the University of Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon University, she was a retired social worker for the city of Philadelphia Mental Health Department. Ms. Riley was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Irwin.

Surviving are nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by siblings, Norma Jean Coleman and Cyril Riley; and nephew, Norman Gene Coleman whom she raised.

Friends were received at William Snyder Funeral Home, Irwin. Interment was at Jefferson Memorial Park, Pleasant Hills.

John Daugherty
Equitable instructor

John J. Daugherty, 86, of North Huntingdon, died April 20, 2008, at Baldock Health Care Centre, North Huntingdon.

Born May 18, 1921, in East McKeesport, he was a son of James and Mary Kearny Daugherty.

Before retirement, he was an instructor for Equitable Resources of Pittsburgh. Mr. Daugherty was a veteran of World War II who served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, North Huntingdon.

Surviving are his wife, Catherine Jacob Daugherty; two sons, George Gordon Daugherty and his wife, Diana, of Latrobe, and Michael Daugherty and his wife, Regina, of North Hunt-ingdon; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and sisters, Grace Ochs, Margaret O'Reilly and LaVerne Ryan.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, James and William Daugherty; and a sister, Rita Pricener.

Friends were received at Joseph F. Ott Funeral Home Inc., Irwin. Mass of Christian Burial was in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, North Huntingdon.

Entombment will follow at Penn Lincoln Memorial Park, North Huntingdon.

Anthony Brett

Anthony J. "Tony" Brett, 88, of Greensburg, formerly of North Huntingdon, died April 21, 2008, in Excela Health, Westmoreland.

Born Nov. 11, 1919, in Pittsburgh, he was a son of Thomas and Philomena Brett.

He was employed at Helms Express. Mr. Brett was a fourth degree in Knights of Columbus Greensburg, and president of Italian Sons and Daughters of America Dante Alighieri Lodge No. 244 in Greensburg.

His wife, Lois Brett, preceded him in death.

Surviving are his son, Donald Brett of North Huntingdon; daughter, Barbara Dell and her husband, Joseph, of New Stanton; brothers, Joseph Brett and Bruno Bretti; sisters, Grayce Bretti and Jennie Glinski; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and friend, Genevieve Gallagher.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today, Thursday, at James W. Shirley Funeral Home, North Huntingdon. Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, North Huntingdon.

Interment will follow at Union Dale Cemetery, Pittsburgh.

Helen Haniotakis
Library associate

Helen Haniotakis, 72, of North Huntingdon, died April 17, 2008.

She was executive secretary with the American Lung Association. Mrs. Haniotakis was an associate at Norwin Public Library and a member of St. Catherine Philotochos Society and the Yasou Club.

Surviving are her sister, Irene (Sotos) Kolocouris of North Huntingdon; nieces and nephews, Dean and Greg Kolocouris, Marina Ferrari and Vicky Radwanski; grandnephews and grandnieces; and numerous relatives in Greece.

Visitation was at Patrick T. Lanigan Funeral Home, East Pittsburgh. Additional visitation and a service were in Presentation of Christ Greek Orthodox Church (Ypapanti). The family suggests donations to Ypapanti, 1672 Electric Ave., East Pittsburgh, PA 15112.

Carol Gardner
Retired nurse

Carol L. Gardner, 66, of White Oak, died April 21, 2008.

Born March 22, 1942, in McKeesport, she was a daughter of Robert and Eleanor Jones Hickman.

She was a graduate of the McKeesport Hospital School of Nursing and was a retired nurse from McKeesport Hospital after 35 years of service.

Mrs. Gardner was a member of Sampson's Mills Presbyterian Church in White Oak, McKeesport Nurses Alumni Association and SEIU.

Surviving are her husband, W. Warren Gardner; a daughter, Marcie Patchel of White Oak; sons, Eric Gardner of North Huntingdon and David Gardener of Dravosburg; grandchildren, Ryan and Abby Patchel; and a sister, Gail Lundie.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Hickman.

Friends were received at Jaycox-Jaworski Funeral Home Inc., White Oak. A service will be held in the chapel of the funeral home at 10 a.m. today (Thursday) with the Rev. Louis P. Long officiating. Interment will follow at Jefferson Memorial Park, Pleasant Hills.

Raymond Birckbichler
Auto mechanic

Raymond Birckbichler, 32, of New Castle, died April 14, 2008.

Born May 10, 1975, in Butler, he was the son of Richard Birckbichler and the late Elaine Gillespie Birckbichler.

He was a self-employed auto mechanic.

Mr. Birckbichler enjoyed fishing and was a member of FOE 1671 in Irwin and Italian Miners Society in Hahntown.

Surviving are his wife, Melody Rae Birckbichler; son, Nicholaus, at home; brothers, Theodore and Douglas Birckbichler; sister, Amber Birckbichler; and "brother," David Rae and his wife, Kim.

Friends were received at William & Roger DeCarbo Funeral Home.

James Roycroft
Tool and die maker

James A. Roycroft Jr., 73, of North Huntingdon, died April 16, 2008.

Born Oct. 21, 1934, he was a son of James Sr. and Harriet Wright Roycroft.

Before retirement, he was a tool and die maker at Robert Shaw Controls. He was formerly employed by Teledyne Firth Sterling and Cleveland Price in Trafford.

Mr. Roycroft was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a longtime trustee and member of Circleville Untied Methodist Church, where he was in the choir and played on the dart team. He was an avid bowler, NASCAR fan, and was in the Robert Shaw Golf League.

Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Jessie Sames Roycroft; sons, James III (Amy) of West Newton, Randy of Irwin, Rick (Katie) of Jeannette and Dennis (Cindy) Roycroft of Trafford; a daughter, Tammy (Robert) Kistler of Irwin; a brother, Robert Roycroft; sisters, Betty Piper and Barbara Petro; 17 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Roycroft.

Friends were received at James W. Shirley Funeral Home, North Huntingdon. A service was at Circleville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Roger Peterson officiating. Interment was at Penn Lincoln Memorial Park.

Russell Park
Owned Parks Motel

Russell Oliver Park, formerly of North Huntingdon, died April 14, 2008, at Carolina Medical Center in Concord, N.C.

Mr. Park owned and operated the former Parks Motel in North Huntingdon for 54 years before retiring to North Carolina.

Surviving are his wife, Estella Park; children, Kevin of North Huntingdon, Melanie of Atlanta, John of Washington, Pa., and Dennis Park of Charlotte N.C., and Denise Kristopaitis of Irwin; a sister, Sue Park Beveridge; and nephews, John and Robert Beveridge.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Russell and Margaret Oliver Park.

Yvonne O'Lear
Avid bingo player

Yvonne B. Righino O'Lear, 78, of Greensburg, formerly of Straw Pump, died April 16, 2008, in Excela Health Westmoreland, Greensburg.

Born Feb. 18, 1930, in Turtle Creek, she was the daughter of Frank and Yvonne Decoster Righino.

She was a retired employee of Scoa Corp. Mrs. O'Lear was a member of Church of the Immaculate Conception. She was an avid bingo and card player and member of Golden Girls of Hempfield Towers.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James O'Lear; and two sisters, Eleanor Ward and Dolores Brown.

Surviving are her son, James O'Lear of Irwin; daughters, Judith (John) McKenna of Mountaintop, Pa., Doreen Hanscom of Jeannette and Diane (Chris) Christensen of Tempe, Ariz.; six grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and a brother, Frank Righino.

Visitation was at Vincent V. Rodgers Funeral Home, Irwin. Interment was at Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont.

Memorial donations are suggested to the American Cancer Society.

Virginia Roberts
Retail worker

Virginia Walder Roberts, 82, of North Huntingdon, died April 17, 2008.

Born Jan. 21, 1926, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of John and Jessie Gormley Walder.

She formerly worked at Montgomery Ward, Greengate Mall, and Camera Cade until retiring.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, William Roberts.

She is survived by sons, Gregory Roberts and wife, Darlene, of North Huntingdon and Douglas Roberts and wife, Gayle, of Manor; daughter, Barbara Roberts of Findlay, Ohio; brother, John Walder; sister, Nancy Stiglitz; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Private arrangements were handled by Vincent V. Rodgers Funeral Home, Irwin.

Esther Dubich
Gifted dressmaker

Esther M. Hawk Houser Benish Dubich, 77, of Irwin, died April 17, 2008.

Born April 23, 1930, in Jeannette, she was a daughter of Ralph and Lurene Wolf Hawk.

For many years, she created the costumes for the productions of the Irwin Male Chorus. Being a gifted dressmaker, many of her clothing styles were created for Bloomingdale's of New York.

Mrs. Dubich was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Irwin. In recent years, she sewed for Lendable Linens.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Kenneth Houser; her second husband, Frank Benish; and her third husband, Eli Dubich.

She is survived by two children, Jeffrey Houser of North Huntingdon and Valerie (David) Whitehead of Corning, N.Y.; and grandchildren, Kenneth and Patrick Houser, and Jonathan and Nathan Whitehead.

Friends were received at Vincent V. Rogers Funeral Home, Irwin. A service was held at in the Rodgers Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tony Kolera officiating.

Joseph Parzuhoski
VP of quality control

Joseph C. Parzuhoski, 67, of North Huntingdon died April 21, 2008.

Born Nov. 28, 1940, in Pittsburgh, he was a son of Chester and Mae Balcer Parzuhoski.

Before retirement, he was vice president of quality control at Bacharach Inc. Mr. Parzuhoski was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He was a member of North Huntingdon AARP 3221.

Surviving are his wife, Linda Muir Parzuhoski; a son, Joseph Parzuhoski Jr. of North Huntingdon; daughters, Susan (Phillip) Gsell of Greensburg and Karen (Neil) Fuenmayor of Ann Arbor, Mich.; sister, Rebecca DeGrazia; and his dogs and cats.

His sister, Barbara De-Francisco, preceded him in death.

Friends were received at James W. Shirley Funeral Home, North Huntingdon. A service will be at 10 a.m. today, Thursday, at the funeral home chapel. Interment will be at New St. Joseph Cemetery, North Versailles.
