Wayne J. Brentzel
Bank vice president

Wayne J. Brentzel, 66, of Harrison City, died May 10, 2008, in Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh.

Born July 5, 1941, in Greensburg, he was the son of John Vincent and Vivian Gorsuch Brentzel.

Before retirement, he was a vice president of Irwin Bank & Trust Co. in Irwin and was the former branch manager of Union National Bank, Irwin.

Mr. Brentzel was a graduate of Norwin High School Class of 1959, a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Irwin, where he served as president of church council.

He also was a member of Jeannette Lodge No. 750, Free and Accepted Masons, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Pittsburgh, and Syria Temple, Pittsburgh, past president of Bushy Run Lions Club, where he received the Melvin Jones Award from Lions International. He was a former member of Norwin Rotary, a Paul Harris Fellow, a former member of the board of directors of the United Way of Westmoreland County and was a charter board member and treasurer of Lincoln Highway Heritage Corridor.

Surviving are his wife, Debra Macormac Brentzel; children, Brian (Janet) Brentzel of York, S.C., Holli (David) Jubec of Mt. Pleasant and Jonathan and Kimberly Brentzel, both at home; and grandchildren, Chelsea, Tyler, Mackenzie and Linnea.

Friends and family were received at William Snyder Funeral Home, Irwin. A service was held in Immanuel Lutheran Church with the Rev. Bruce Brunkhorst officiating. Interment was at Union Cemetery, North Huntingdon.

Betsy Meisel
Irwin resident

Betsy McClure Meisel, 85, of Irwin, died May 9, 2008, in Baldock Health Centre, North Huntingdon.

Born April 3, 1922, in Huntington, W.Va., she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Meisel.

Surviving are two daughters, Lisa Ofcansky of Jeannette and Paula Fortney of South Carolina; a granddaughter, Amy Schade and her husband, Laddie, of Irwin; and three great-grandchildren.

Private arrangements were entrusted to James S. Shirley Funeral Home, North Huntingdon.

Katherine Macrania
Restaurant manager

Katherine "Elsie" Meneghini Macrania, 93, formerly of West Hempfield, died May 11, 2008, in the Hempfield Manor.

Born July 24, 1914, in Darrah, she was a daughter of Antonio and Joanna Rodella Meneghini.

Mrs. Macrania was at one time employed as a waitress, then as assistant manager, at Howard Johnsons Restaurant in Irwin. She was a member of St. Boniface Church of Penn and its Confraternity of Christian Mothers, the ladies auxiliary of Adamsburg Volunteer Fire Department and West Hempfield Senior Citizens.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Federico Macrania; brothers, Jim, William and Arthur Meneghini; a sister, Mary Ringer; and a son-in-law, Francis Reott. Surviving are a daughter, Olga Reott of Irwin; a son, G. James Macrania and his wife, Carol "Sue," of West Hempfield; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a brother, Anthony Meneghini.

Friends were received at Joseph F. Ott Funeral Home Inc., Irwin. Mass of Christian Burial was in St. Boniface Church, Penn. Entombment is at Westmoreland County Memorial Park.

Michael Constantine
Carpet installer

Michael V. Constantine, 60, of North Huntingdon, died May 9, 2008, in Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg.

Born April 22, 1948, in Greensburg, he was a son of Victor Constantine of Jeannette and the late Elizabeth Constantine.

Mr. Constantine was employed as a carpet installer. He was a member of Italian Miners Society of Hahntown.

In addition to his father, he is survived by three children, Kelly, Michael, and David Constantine, all of Irwin; two brothers, Fred Constantine and his wife, Cathy, of Mechanicsburg, Keith Constantine and his friend, Nina, of Langhorne.

Victor Van Allen
Registered nurse

Victor Van Allen, 50, of North Huntingdon, died May 6, 2008, at Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital at Jeannette.

Born Aug. 11, 1957, in Pittsburgh, he was a son of Ken and Esther Connley Van Allen.

A graduate of Shadyside School of Nursing, he was employed as a registered nurse at UPMC Jefferson Home Care. Mr. Van Allen was an Army veteran.

He was a member of New Hope Presbyterian Church in North Huntingdon, where he served as a lay pastor, elder and deacon and participated in two mission trips to Sudan.

Surviving are his wife, Donna Pletcher Van Allen; two sons, Christopher and Zachary, both at home; one daughter, Jennifer McClelland and her husband, Marcus Quinones, of Pittsburgh; a brother, Larry Van Allen; a sister, Patricia Pefferman; one granddaughter, Olivia Quinones; and three stepbrothers.

Friends and family were received at James W. Shirley Funeral Home, North Huntingdon. A service was in New Hope Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Janet Reid officiating. Interment was at Mars Hill Cemetery.

Nora Lentz
Great-grandmother

Nora Conroy Lentz, 86, of Irwin, died May 7, 2008, in Excela Health Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg.

Born Jan. 13, 1922, in North Versailles, she was a daughter of Matthew and Nora Knee Conroy.

She was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, North Huntingdon.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Lentz; a brother, Sonny Conroy; and two sisters, Mary Frazier and Ann Zollner.

Surviving are three children, Albert Lentz Jr. and his wife, Jolynn, of Lancaster, Karen Wilson and her husband, John, of Greensburg and Pamela Orange and her husband, Charles, of Irwin; four grandchildren, Matthew, Michael, Terrah and Erica; a great-granddaughter, Miran-da; three brothers, Patrick, James and Bart Conroy; and three dogs, Tinker, Rastus and Molly.

Family and friends were received at Joseph F. Ott Funeral Home Inc., Irwin. Mass of Christian Burial was in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church. Interment was at New St. Joseph Cemetery, North Versailles.

Catherine Galket Skripkar
Great-grandmother

Catherine Galket Skripkar of North Huntingdon, died May 6, 2008, in McKeesport.

She was a daughter of Anton and Mary Neihl Ribic.

Mrs. Skripkar was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, North Huntingdon.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, John Galket; a daughter, Elaine Galasso; her second husband, Peter Skripkar; a brother, Anton Ribic; and three sisters, Marie McCracken, Ann Yenchi and Margaret Barrett.

Surviving are a son, Roger Galket and his wife, Marcie, of Penn Township; four grandchildren, Elaine Rayski, Jeffrey Galket, Wendy Johnson and Greg Galket; and four great-grandchildren.

Friends and family were received at James W. Shirley Funeral Home Inc., North Huntingdon. Mass was in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church. Entombment is in Penn Lincoln Memorial Park.

Irene Passarello
Grandmother

Irene Passarello, 77, of North Huntingdon, died May 7, 2008, at Hospice of the Valley in Poland, Ohio.

Born Oct. 26, 1930, in Monongahela, she was a daughter of Walter and Josephine Zarr.

Mrs. Passarello was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, North Huntingdon.

Her husband, Ralph Louis Passarello, preceded her in death.

Surviving are her sons, Louis and his wife, Doreen, of North Huntingdon and Walter Passarello and his wife, Bethanne, of Poland, Ohio; two daughters, Valerie Nowalk and her companion, Mike Palfey, of North Huntingdon and Joanna Lynn Barton and her husband, Edward, of North Huntingdon; a brother, Ed Zarr; a sister, Theresa Plesher; and seven grandchildren.

Friends and family were received at James W. Shirley Funeral Home, North Huntingdon. A service was in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church. Interment was at New St. Joseph Cemetery.

Joseph Mazzoni Sr.
Westinghouse employee

Joseph A. Mazzoni Sr., 94, of Irwin, died May 7, 2008.

Born March 19, 1914, in Lake Village, Ark., he lived in Braddock, Wilkinsburg and Swissvale before moving to Sunrise Estates in Irwin in 1964.

He retired from Westinghouse in East Pittsburgh after 33 years of service. Mr. Mazzoni was a member of the Jeannette Senior Center and Level Green Seniors. He attended St. Regis Catholic Church in Trafford.

Preceding him in death were his wife of 57 years, Minnie Ellen Emerson; a sister and four brothers.

Surviving are his sons, Joseph Jr. of Pittsburgh and James (Marge) Mazzoni of St. Paul, Minn.; a sister, Mary Wessel; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Friends were received at Jobe Funeral Home Inc., Turtle Creek. Mass of Christian Burial was in St. Colman Catholic Church. Interment was at Braddock Catholic Cemetery.
