Welty Washabau

Welty M. Washabau, 84, of North Huntingdon died May 2, 2008, in Mercy Hospital, Pittsburgh.
Born March 24, 1924, in Youngwood, he was the son of Brady and Hulda Bowman Washabau. In addition to his parents, his sister, Margery Preston, preceded him in death.
He was a retired operation chief for Pennsylvania Railroad and Conrail Corp., retiring after 40 years service.
He was a former greeter for William Snyder Funeral Home, Irwin. He was a member and elder of First Presbyterian Church in Irwin; a life member of VFW Post 781 and American Legion Post 359; and the Retired Officers Association, General Greene Chapter, Greensburg.
He was a member of Steel City Retired Officers Club in Pittsburgh; Army Retiree Council; Charles E. Kelly Military Post in Oakdale; past president of Chapter 3221 AARP; a member of Shidle Lodge, No. 601, Free and Accepted Masons in Irwin; Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of New Castle; Unit No. 10 of National Association of Railroad Veteran and Retired Employees.
He also was a retired member of American Train Dispatchers Association; a former active member of Norwin Rotary where he was named Rotarian of the Year in 1988 and was a Paul Harris Fellow; a volunteer for Meals-on-Wheels, United Way and Salvation Army; and a social member of the Italian Miners Society, Hahntown.
Surviving are his wife of more than 62 years, Roberta Washabau; children, Douglas (Irene) Washabau of Newark, Del., Susan (Rex) Ferguson of Greensburg, Gerald (Jill) Washabau of Irmo, S.C., and Richard (Nadine) Washabau of Herndon, Va.; daughter-in-law, Irene Washabau; grandchildren, Carrie and Christopher Ferguson, and Nicholas Washabau; and siblings, Claude, Brady, Drew and Wade Washabau.
Friends were received at William Snyder Funeral Home, Irwin. A service was in First Presbyterian Church in Irwin with the Rev. Dr. Ronald Wakeman officiating. Interment with military honors was at Westmoreland County Memorial Park, Hempfield Township. Memorial contributions are suggested to Meals-on-Wheels.
Natalie Miller
Postal carrier
Natalie L. Fyock Miller, 66, of Adamsburg, died April 29, 2008.
Born Sept. 23, 1941, she was the daughter of Nathan and Violet Oplinger Fyock. Mrs. Miller was a retired postal carrier with the Irwin Post Office. She was an avid bingo player.
Surviving are siblings, Barbara Detar of Adamsburg, Nathan Fyock of North Carolina, Sue Harrity of Adamsburg, Timothy Fyock of Texas, Georgia Taylor of Churchill and Virginia Mallory and William Davis, both of Wilkinsburg; also nieces and nephews.
Friends were received at William Snyder Funeral Home, Irwin, where a service was held with the Rev. James Ekis officiating.
Interment was at Brush Creek Cemetery, Hempfield Township.
Barbara Mainwaring
Pharmacy tech
Barbara A. Tomajko Mainwaring, 63, of North Huntingdon died April 28, 2008.
Born Dec. 14, 1944, in Braddock, she was the daughter of Joseph James and Anna Effie Stine Tomajko.
She was a retired pharmacy technician for UPMC McKeesport Hospital. Mrs. Mainwaring was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, North Huntingdon.
Surviving are her husband of nearly 39 years, William Mainwaring; a son, Sean Mainwaring, North Huntingdon; siblings, Michaelene (Jack) Tomina of Plum Borough and Joseph (Diana) Tomajko of Monroeville; also nieces and nephews.
Friends were received at William Snyder Funeral Home, Irwin. Mass was in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in North Huntingdon with the Rev. Richard Kosisko officiating.
Entombment is in Penn Lincoln Memorial Park, North Huntingdon.
Eleanore Haney
Mother of three
Eleanore Doris Haney, 85, of North Huntingdon, died May 3, 2008, in Juniper Village.
Born Dec. 24, 1922, in Pittsburgh, she was a daughter of John and Myrtle Felmley Shaw. Mrs. Haney was a member of Circleville United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Haney; brothers, John and Melvin Shaw; and two sisters, Lillie Mae Newmyer and Evelyn Shaw.
Surviving are daughters, Billie Bergman, Joanne Getsy and Roberta Hardwig; a brother, Fred Shaw; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Friends were received a James W. Shirley Funeral Home, North Huntingdon. Interment was at Homestead Cemetery.
Ronald Atkinson
Drummer for Majestics
Ronald Edward Atkinson, 66, of Irwin died April 28 2008.
Born April 30, 1941, in Braddock, he was a son of Charles Edward and Mary Payne Atkinson.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a machinist for Westinghouse Electric, East Pittsburgh.
Besides his family, his main passion was music.
He was a drummer in the band The Majestics for 30 years and was happy to dust off his drums and join his sons-in-law for some playing over the holidays.
Preceding him in death were his wife, Marlene Ann Atkinson; and a sister, Frances Atkinson DeAngelo.
He is survived by five daughters, Kathy (Ron) Veitch of Penn, Scherry (John) Good of Jeannette, Marla (Paul) Mallich of Greensburg, Annette Atkinson and Gina Lipko, both of Irwin; a son, Gary Atkinson of Irwin; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Friends and family were received at Joseph F. Ott Funeral Home Inc. in Irwin, where a service was held with the Rev. Roy Aiken of Christian Fellowship Church in Jeannette and Mr. Atkinson's grandson, Jon Mallich, co-officiating.
Interment was at Monongahela Cemetery, North Braddock.
Julia Magill

Julia R. Bunnell Magill, 81, of North Huntingdon died May 4, 2008, in Briarcliff Pavilion, North Huntingdon.
Born July 6, 1926, in Lansing, Mich., she was the daughter of John and Margaretha Warnecki Bunnell. She was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, North Huntingdon.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Magill, Jr.; and a brother, Gordon Bunnell.
Surviving are her children, Joan "Kathy" (Tom) Faletto of Georgia, Glenn Edward (Marty) Magill of North Huntingdon, Gene (Jannie) Magill of Stahlstown, Gerry Ogletree of Georgia, Robert (Jeannette) Magill and Diane Novotny (Jesse Wachs), all of North Huntingdon; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Friends and family were received at William Snyder Funeral Home, Irwin. Interment was at Penn Lincoln Memorial Park, North Huntingdon.
Josephine Macey

Josephine Macey, 85, of Plum Borough died May 4, 2008, at Briarcliff Pavilion, North Huntingdon.
Born Jan. 5, 1923, in Pittsburgh, she was a daughter of Giacomo and Josephine Pellegrino Brandi.
She was best known for time spent with her family and Sunday dinners.
She is survived by her husband, John P. Macey; daughters, Mary Ann (John) Neubert and Janet (Kenneth) Amoroso, all of North Huntingdon; four grandchildren, George and John Ondovcik, Kenneth Amoroso and Kara Schopp; and a great-grandson.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers and nine sisters.
Visitation was at James W. Shirley Funeral Home, North Huntingdon. Mass was in Church of the Immaculate Conception. Interment was at Immaculate Conception Cemetery.
Bonnylyn Walter
Church organist
Bonnylyn Marie Walter, 83, of North Huntingdon died May 1, 2008, in Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg.
Born Sept. 4, 1924, in Irwin, she was a daughter of Homer and Mary Bolling Stough. Mrs. Walter was a member of United Church of Christ in Manor, where she served as the church's organist and sang in the choir for many years. She was past matron and organist for Eastern Star No. 400 of Irwin and a member of the Wednesday Evening Card Club.
She is survived by her husband, Clive Walter; a son, Randall Walter and his wife, Betsy, of North Huntingdon; and a brother, Clarence Stough and his wife, Lois, of North Huntingdon.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Ray Stough; and a sister, Louise Stough.
Friends were received at James W. Shirley Funeral Home Inc., North Huntingdon. Interment was at Brush Creek Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to United Church of Christ in Manor.
Janice Davis

Janice Byrnes Davis, 67, of North Huntingdon,died on May 1, 2008, in Mercy Jeannette Hospital.
Born Sept. 6, 1940, in McKeesport, she was a daughter of C. Aileen Wolf Byrnes of Greensburg and the late Andrew Byrnes. Mrs. Davis was a retired administrative assistant for UPMC, Oakland. She was a member of Church of the Immaculate Conception in Irwin and its Christian Mothers.
Surviving are her husband of 38 years, Philip Davis; three sons, Philip (Angela) Davis of Milton, Pa., Robert Davis of Pittsburgh and Joseph Davis of North Huntingdon; two grandchildren, Meghan and Philip and Davis; two brothers, William and the Rev. Robert Byrnes.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a sister, Carol Ann Alexander.
Friends were received at Joseph F. Ott Funeral Home Inc., Irwin. Mass was in the Church of the Immaculate Conception with her brother, the Rev. Robert Byrnes as main celebrant. Interment will follow at Immaculate Conception, North Huntingdon.
Homer Reich
World War II vet
Homer F. "Dutch" Reich, 92, of Delmont died May 4, 2008, in William Penn Care Center, Jeannette.
Born May 18, 1915, in Export, he was the son of Frank and Sadie Remaley Reich.
Prior to retirement, he was a manager at Manordale Service Station, Jeannette. Mr. Reich was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Emmanuel Reformed United Church of Christ in Export and Forbes Trail F&AM Lodge 783, Export.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Isabelle Tranchine Reich; a brother and six sisters.
Surviving are his children, Lewis (Darlene) Reich of Greensburg and Naomi Kurian of Washington, Pa.; a brother, Lewis Reich; two granddaughters, Cindy Pattyn and Sandy Wescott; and two great-grandchildren.
Family and friends were received at Vaia Funeral Home Inc., Delmont. Entombment is at Twin Valley Memorial Park Mausoleum, Delmont.
Betty Duffy

Betty McEwen Duffy, 91, of North Huntingdon died Friday May 2, 2008, in Golden Heights Personal Care Home, Penn Township.
Born June 26, 1916, in McKeesport, she was a daughter of David and Edna Zinkon McEwen. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, James Miller Duffy; a sister, Ethel Benjamin; and a brother, David McEwen.
Surviving are a son, James M. Duffy and his wife, Kathryn, of North Huntingdon; two granddaughters, Susan Hildebrand and her husband, Brian, of Ashburn, Va., Christina Long and her husband, David Ivory, of North Huntingdon; three great and grandchildren.

Elvira Rinker
Sang in church choir
Elvira May "Anti" Rinker, 81, of North Huntingdon, died April 28, 2008.
Born April 21, 1927, in Fairmont, she was a daughter of John B. and Eleanor Frye McIntyre. She was a member of Lutheran Church of Our Saviour in North Huntingdon, where she sang in the choir. Mrs. Rinker was a past member of Norwin Elks Ladies Auxiliary.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Marshall Rinker in 2002; and brothers and sisters, Charles, Robert, Paul and John McIntyre, Jane Sofaly, Eleanor Bickerstaff and Elsie Bullock.
Surviving are her three children, Cassie Rinker of North Huntingdon, with whom she resided, Eric Rinker and his wife, Julie, of Penn Township and Rene Spezziale and her husband, Michael, of North Huntingdon; five grandchildren, Daniel Moon, Timothy Moon, Zachary, Anastasia and Audrey Rinker; a great-granddaughter; brothers, Jack "Joe" McIntyre and his wife, Aleeda, and Jim McIntyre and his wife, Mary Louise; a sister-in-law, Judy McIntyre; and special friend, Patricia Rose of North Huntingdon.
Friends and family were received at Joseph F. Ott Funeral Home Inc., Irwin.
A service was held in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. James West, pastor of Lutheran Church of Our Saviour, officiating.
Interment was at Irwin Union Cemetery, North Huntingdon.
