What do you think about the speed limit signs on Mockingbird Drive?

Traffic Control, school transportation, and lack of competent personnel is a responsibility that lies within both the school and township boards of directors, elected to these positions. More taxpayers should take a conscientious interest in the community at large--if they don't who will, non tax paying bloodletters?

This being so, going to the same people with the same problems over and over changes nothing.

If parents, voters, union leaders, and administrators feel they are all "cock of the walk", exactly what are children expected to do?? Drive to elementary school?

School Crossing guards, bus aids, and other perceived insignificance's might do a better job, if their positions had clear and competent job descriptions. (Which North Huntingdon's Union and Township manager's failed to do in my case.)

An incident occurred at a "Dollar General"; there was a container on the counter asking for customers to donate their change for the summer READING program. Why aren't educators, who failed this responsibility during the school year, not volunteering? Teach reading in their off duty time during the summer.

No, I will not donate, I will not volunteer, and I will not change your children's LUVS.

If the responsibility is to intense, stop watching "Sexy Housewives" (sic), on TV and interact with your community. Or do not procreate.

Tom Arendas; is the road department manager and paid well for it. He is not the father image for your children's dilemma, that is a parental responsibility.

For everyone who thinks that the speed limit on Mockingbird Drive isn't necessary - you apparently don't live in the neighborhood. If you did, you would realize how it is next to impossible to pull into or out of your own driveway on a daily basis. You also don't see the children trying to walk to and from school that have to constantly dodge school buses and cars in order to simply walk down the street. The township has made absolutely no effort to address the school zone designation that should be clearly marked on Mockingbird Drive. The township also needs to ENFORCE the speed limit and lack of adherence to the stop signs. The worst offenders in violating the speed limit and stop signs are the school buses and parents who are in too much of a hurry to get their kids to school late or pick them up early. If you lived in this neighborhood you would know that both the school district and township are at fault for this when they failed to think how much of an impact turning neighborhood schools into district-wide schools would have in a small residential area. If you were on this road to during the school week, let alone on the weekends, you may have a different opinion. Come on up any school day and watch the slew of moving violations. It's quite the show that will surely not disappoint you.

I drive on Mockingbird Drive almost daily. I get a kick out of the double speed limit signs, very ingenius, if you ask me. It is certainly eyecatching and I believe makes one think about how fast they're going when seeing those particular signs.
On another note concerning speeding in the Township.
I know the police are out there doing a great job, especially on Route 30, but sometimes they need pay a little more attention to some of the other North Huntingdon back roads like Clay Pike, Robbin Station Rd.and Barnes Lake Rd. for speeders. Especially those "ominous dump trucks" that fly around the Township, with total disregard for pedestrians, vehicles and property. Playing chicken with whomever is near them, taking up both sides of the road, driving up the middle of the road and not yielding one inch to on coming traffic while they are speeding toward you, forcing you over and possibly into the ditch is pretty scary!
PLEASE SLOW DOWN, MR.DUMPTRUCK DRIVER!!!!
It also saddens and worries me to see the smaller yellow Laidlaw school buses speeding around too. I witnessed that type of school bus cut a red light while sitting at the red light in front of Shirley's Funeral home the other day. Fortunately, there where no students on board as this white haired driver went around the bend on almost two wheels to beat the red light. Unfortunately, I did not get the number on the bus to report him.
Just my two cents!

We have NO speed limit signs on our road and no police officer that enforces it either. People just need to slow down before someone gets hit!!! We have asked for signs, to NO avail.

The police dont enforce the speed limits anyway. I cant tell you how many times I've called them about speeding on my road that happens on a daily basis from the same people and the only thing they could do was put up a 20 mph sign. Enforced? Not once.

If you know what I mean. Fix the pot holes and fix the signs that are changed to 40 to 80.
